Clouded leopards are considered to be the best and most amazing climbers of all the cat species.  Their long, thick tails serve as counterbalances as they make their way along narrow branches, and its large paws provide excellent grip on smooth bark.  The pads on these massive paws are soft, and will mold to the shape of the tree branch beneath them, and specialised bones in their ankles allow the cat to rotate its paws almost 180 degrees. Clouded leopards have been observed hanging from branches by their hind paws, climbing down tree trunks head first, and even walking upside-down along the underside of tree limbs.
